Homemade hand sanitiser is an acceptable backup option to store-bought sanitiser — when made correctly.
Make sure your recipe includes 91 percent rubbing alcohol.
1. This recipe makes enough for a 75ml bottle.
2. Half fill the bottle with vodka or gin or any white alcohol.
3. Add 4 tbsp of Witch Hazel.
4. Add 2 tbsp aloe vera gel or Vitamin E and top up with filtered or distilled water.
5. Add 10 drops each of cinnamon, clove, rosemary (or tea tree) and eucalyptus essential oils.
6. Shake well and use when required.
Don’t forget: Soap and water are still very powerful when it comes to washing away germs.
